Your Apple Account balance is money stored in your Apple account, for example from an iTunes Gift Card or Apple Gift Card you have redeemed. People used to call it iTunes balance or Apple ID balance. It pays for apps, games, in-game items, and Apple subscriptions.
Checking the balance is useful before buying something, after redeeming a gift card, or before changing your account country. The steps below follow Apple’s official guide.
Check the balance on iPhone or iPad
- Open the App Store.
- Tap your profile photo, your initials, or the My Account button at the top. Sign in with your Apple Account if asked.
- The balance is shown under your name.
In some countries, the balance can also be seen in the Wallet app on iPhone.
Check the balance on a Mac
- Open the App Store.
- If there is a Sign In button at the bottom of the sidebar, click it and sign in with your Apple Account.
- The balance is shown under your name, at the bottom of the sidebar.
Check the balance on a Windows PC
- Open the Apple Music app or the Apple TV app.
- Click your name, or the Sign In button, at the bottom of the sidebar. Sign in if asked.
- The balance is shown under your name.
If no balance is shown
If there is no figure under your name, that Apple Account has no balance. There are a few possibilities:
- The gift card hasn’t been redeemed yet. Follow how to redeem an iTunes Gift Card.
- The card was redeemed on a different Apple Account. Check which account is signed in on that device.
- The balance has already been spent, for example on a subscription renewal.
If the balance looks wrong
- Sign out of the App Store, Apple Music, or Apple TV, then sign back in and check the balance again.
- If it still differs, open your account’s purchase history. In-game purchases and subscription renewals are deducted from the balance and sometimes go unnoticed.
What can the balance be used for?
Apple Account balance can be used in the App Store and other Apple services, for example:
- apps, games, and in-game items or currency
- subscriptions such as iCloud+, Apple Music, Apple Arcade, and Apple TV
- other content from Apple services available in your account’s country
As long as the balance is enough, subscription renewals are charged to it. The balance can’t be cashed out or moved to another account, except where required by law.
Before changing your account country
Apple asks you to spend your balance before the country or region of your Apple Account can be changed. If what is left is less than the price of a single item, contact Apple Support. The full steps are in how to change your Apple Account country to Indonesia.

Questions about Apple Account balance
Are iTunes balance and Apple Account balance the same thing?
Yes. Apple renamed the service, but balance from an iTunes Gift Card, an Apple Gift Card, and an App Store Gift Card all goes into the same balance.
Can the balance be used by my family group?
The balance belongs to one Apple Account. Family Sharing members don’t spend another account’s balance, so redeem the gift card on the account that will be making the purchase.
Why does the balance go down on its own?
Usually because of a subscription renewal or an in-app purchase. Check the purchase history and the subscription list in your Apple Account settings.
